Learn to Row 2026

Learn to Row 2026

Come and try something new in 2026! As we proudly celebrate our 100th anniversary, we are opening our doors for a fun and welcoming Rowing Taster Day.

We had an incredible amount of interest this year, so we are running a second Learn to Row taster days/course.

If you’re keen to give rowing a go, the taster day and course is designed for complete beginners and is a fun, supportive way to learn the basics both on and off the water with help from our friendly coaches and members.

These sessions are a great chance to try rowing for the first time, meet the club, and see whether it’s for you before signing up to the full course. If you are interested in coming along please sign up either on the 22nd August or 12th September here: WLARC Taster Day. Please note you will need to have attended one of our taster days to be eligible for the full Learn to Row course.

🚣‍♀️ What to Expect

Don’t worry if you’ve never picked up an oar, this day is perfect for beginners. You’ll enjoy:

  • Ergo Training: Get hands-on experience with rowing machines to build your skills and confidence.
  • Sculling in a Coxed Boat: Time on the water in a stable, coxed boat with experienced volunteers helping you every step of the way.

We anticipate the day to run from approximately 10:00-16:00 but this will be confirmed closer to the date.

💪 Requirements

  • We are a ladies only club
  • 18 and over
  • Able to swim 50 metres
  • Basic level of fitness
  • No prior rowing experience required

🎉 What Happens Next?

If you love the day, we’ll be running a follow‑on Learn to Row course, designed to gently build confidence, skills, and fitness on and off the water.
