Please note that as autumn draws in we are not currently running the trial sessions for potential new members.
River conditions are variable and often not suitable for novice rowers, making it difficult to plan these sessions in advance and get out on the water. We will resume these sessions next spring.
Please contact us if you have any questions, or if you're brave enough to start with winter training on the ergos!
The club is open during the week with winter training sessions on Tues and Thurs from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturday from 9:30 onwards, Juniors on Sunday 10:30 to 12:00. Members are free to attend the club on whatever basis suits, please contact the Club Captain for more information.
The club trains beginners in rowing so no experience necessary - just enthusiasm, and you need to be able to swim.
For those members looking to compete at Regattas, then the winter training begins in October. A structured programme is set out for all abilities. This involves cross training in the first instance consisting of water work, running and ergo work.
Most of the winter training takes place at the boathouse where we currently have ergometers and free weights.
The temperature at the club during the winter months is a cool freezing point and all members must keep moving at all times to prevent frost bite. If you can stick with the winter training then you will find the Regatta season a doddle.
The membership fee is £180 per annum.
