Ross Regatta. Saturday 30th August 2004

WS4 2x - had a good race, but lost in 1st round. Nasty conditions - very nasty cross windy & loads of stream. WS3 2x - close finish in the final, lost by a length, then in the WS3 4x - We WON... hooray!...

Gloucester Regatta. Saturday 28th August 2004

Saturday - Gloucester - through to finals in both the WS2 4x, lead all the way, but got disqualified! (a long story as to why and I will explain one day as I was steering!!), and then the WS3 2x, again leading all the way, then 150m from home Ali caught a crab and that was the end of that one!

Full results are on the Staines BC website.

Weybridge Ladies Regatta. Sunday 6th June 2004

Without the mini-tornados of last year to pull down trees, the regatta passed off very smoothly. Whats more, it finished on time! Was it luck? Not entirely - as ever it was down to the work of the small army of volunteers; the helpers, marshalls and umpires.

Thank you also to all the competitors who took part and made it a great day's racing. The results of the finals are here, and there are some pictures here.

Celebrating 50 years of rowing! Sunday 16th May 2004

Never mind that Roger Bannister had just broken the four minute mile, or that someone called Elvis reckoned that he could sing and recorded his first single; 1954 was the year that WLARC member Eve took up rowing, and she is still going strong!

The sunny weather was booked and a garden party held at the WLARC boathouse. Eve was presented with a blade in WLARC colours celebrating her 50 years at WLARC.

You can see some pictures here.

Kingston Head. Saturday 13th March 2004

Weybridge Ladies had one crew entered.

The full list of results is on the Kingston RC website.

Burway Head. Saturday 21st February 2004

Weybridge Ladies had four crews entered.

The WLARC results can be found here. The full list of results is on the Burway RC website.

Boston Junior GB Trials. Sat/Sun 14/15th February 2004

2nd and 3rd stages of the Boston Junior GB Trials.

Saturday 14th.

After a 5 1/2 hour journey on the Friday and a good nights sleep we were just about ready for our 5km trial. With Lucozade on hand and start positions 29 and 32 we rowed to the start together, reassuring each other that the 7ft giants were not as much of a threat as we thought. In both cases the race went fairly smoothly, discounting the odd stroke where swimming could have been a different race.

After a good day we brought home 2 juniors in the top 15; Amy in 7th place and KT in 13th place. Now for tomorow's double...

Sunday 15th.

Absolutely exhausted. Not the tidiest sculling, to say the least, but it got us to 1st PLACE!

Hyne Cup. Sunday 15th February 2004

The Hyne Cup is a private race between eights from Weybridge RC and Walton. Other local clubs are invited to race, and WLARC entered three crews (WS3 4x, WS2 4- and WJ14 4x). You can read the results from this year's host Weybridge RC.
